Summer Solstice, Longest Day of the Year - Martin the Mouse Children's Books

Happy summer, friends!

Grab your sunscreen and head outside, because the days are slowly growing longer. That doesn’t mean we get more time in each day, but it does mean more hours of daylight!

June 20th will be the longest day of the year. It’s known as the Summer Solstice. That means the sun will be up for longer than any other day of the year.

Those of you who are diurnal, which means you enjoy sleeping at night and are more active in the day, will get more sunshine during your waking hours. As you may know, I’m nocturnal and usually sleep during the day, but I’m going to stay awake ALL day on the Summer Solstice. I’m planning to read, swim, and eat lots of snacks.

With all that light, Summer is a great time to dive into a good book. When you’re done romping around in the sun, pick out a nice spot in the shade and read one of your favorites while you cool down.

What kind of books are you reading this month? Let us know on Facebook!
