Martin the Mouse July Pool Safety PostDid you know that mice are actually very good swimmers? While it is not my preferred method of travel, we can tread water for up to 3 days and even hold our breath for up to 3 minutes!

Swimming pools are a great way to beat the summer heat, but it is important to be safe when playing in or around any body of water like the pool, the lake or the beach.

Here are 4 Pool Safety Steps you and your parents can follow for a safe and fun summer in the water:

  1. Always ask a grown up before going in the water.
  2. Learn how to swim early on. Swimming is fun, but it can also save your life. If you have not taken swim lessons, ask your parent about signing you up.
  3. Do not climb or play on gates and fences.
  4. Stay away from drains or suctions outlets.

Follow these simple steps and you are in for a summer full of fun pool days.
